Aberdeen hit by wave of flat tyres as vandals tamper with valves
A number of cars across different areas have been targeted
Cars across Aberdeen have been hit by suspected environmental activists who have filled tyre valves with lentils.
Residents in Hilton, Ashgrove, Rosehill and other areas woke up to find the tyres on their cars deflated.
Martin Quinn lives in the Cornhill area and his Nisan Qashqai was hit.
"The first we noticed this morning was when my wife went to the car, she phoned me to say that all of her tyres were flat," he said.
"When I took off the cap which was already loose on the tyre I noticed there was a lentil under it and all the other tyres were the same."
It is still unknown who is responsible for the attacks, however it follows a similar trend that is currently popular on TikTok and with environmental campaigners.
Mr Quinn said: "Initially we wondered if we were being targeted specifically.
"My wife then looked up online to find out if anyone else had been affected by this and it seemed that a large number of people were complining about it."
He added: "When she investigated further she found out there was a particular TikTok trend going around that's specific to this type of event."
Although nobody has taken responsibility, activist group The Tyre Extinguishers have made action of the same kind in Dundee, Edinburgh, and Glasgow within the last year.
The majority of cars that have been affected are Diesel SUVs however a number of petrol and electric cars have also been targeted.
