Two new units at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary face delay - with £60 million overspend
New Maternity hospital and Anchor Anchor Centre were originally due to open on the Foresterhill Health Campus in Aberdeen next year.
It has been revealed today as a result of an NHS Grampian board meeting that two planned new units at ARI will face delays, and cost around £60 million pounds more than initially expected.
The Anchor Centre will not welcome patients until 2022, with the new maternity building unlikely to become operational until March 2023.
North East MSP Lewis MacDonald has urged the public not to lay the blame of these delays and costs at the door of NHS Grampian.
He says that these circumstances are a result of mistakes made in hospital developments in the central belt.
