Two Major Oil Firms Confirm Hundreds Of Aberdeen Jobs Are At Risk

Two major oil companies have confirmed today that they are consulting Aberdeen staff over hundreds of job losses.

Amec Foster Wheeler announced that they are in talks with 149 Aberdeen employees, over the potential loss of 64 jobs.

Northsound News also understands that Petrofac are also taking part in a redundancy consultation over the potential slashing of 100 onshore and 100 offshore positions.

This all comes after Aberdeen based oil firm X-Subsea this morning announced they were going into administration - leaving 20 employees without a job.

Yesterday, Wood Group also confirmed they have warned 380 employees that their jobs may be at risk.

80 of them are expected to be made redundant.

It's all due to the dramatic fall in oil prices in recent months.
