A 33-year-old man's been detained by police after an attack in Aberdeen city-centre.

Police were called to Shiprow just after 12:00pm on Tuesday 12th September with reports of violence next to the Vue Cinema.

A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital by ambulance with injuries that aren't believed to be life threatening.

A woman was also hurt, she was treated at the scene.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 1207 hours today to attend an incident on Ship Row in Aberdeen.

“We dispatched a paramedic response unit and one ambulance to the scene.

“One male patient in his thirties was taken to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

“We received a call at 1235 hours from Police Scotland to attend to a second patient at the same locale.

“We dispatched a paramedic response unit and one ambulance.

“One female patient in her thirties was treated at the scene."

The street remains cordoned off.

Inspector Chris Kerr said: "Our investigations are at an early stage however we understand this to be an isolated incident. Ship Row will be closed for the time being whilst enquiries are carried out into the incident.

"If anyone who witnessed the incident or knows anything about it hasn't yet spoken to officers I would ask that they call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 1309 of 12 September. "
