Two taken to hospital following crash involving school mini bus at Alford

Emergency crews were called to the A944 shortly after 3pm, Aberdeenshire Council said all pupils are safe.

Two people have been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash involving a school mini bus in Alford.

The Scottish Ambulance Service dispatched two units to the scene on the A944 and transported two patients to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Aberdeenshire Council confirmed pupils on board are safe.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: “We are aware of a collision involving a school transport service this afternoon on the A944.

“Emergency services are currently at the scene.

“Pupils are safe and there are no reported injuries.”

It is understood the A944 is closed from Station Road to the Keig turn off at Whitehouse while emergency crews deal with the incident.

A spokesperson for Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 15:05 today to attend a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A944, Alford.

"We dispatched two ambulances to the scene and two patients were transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 3.10pm on Thursday, 3 October, 2024, we received a report of a crash involving a car and a mini bus on the A944 at Alford.

"Emergency services are in attendance and the A944 is closed in both directions between Alford and Whitehouse.

"Drivers are asked to avoid the area."
