Two in hospital after crash near Portsoy

The two car crash happened at 4:50pm on Friday

Investigations are continuing this morning after a two car crash on the A98 near Portsoy left two people in hospital.

Police, fire crews and the Scottish Ambulance Service were called to the scene at ten to five after the accident involving a Ford Focus and a Renault Clio.

Two people were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary - one by air ambulnace with serious injuries.

Police Scotland released a statement: "Emergency services are currently in attendance at a serious road traffic collision on the A98 near Portsoy."

"The two vehicle collision was reported to Police Scotland at 4:50pm today Friday 24 March, 2017 and happened approximately one mile east of Portsoy."

"The road was closed. Traffic from Portsoy was being diverted down the B9022 to the junction of the A95 through Cornhill towards the junction with the A98 and reverse for traffic from Banff."

"The Scottish Ambulance Service and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance."

"One person has been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by Air Ambulance with serious injuries and another person has been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with injuries that are not believed to be serious."

"The vehicles involved in the collision are a Ford Focus and a Renault Clio."
