Two bodies recovered from River Dee identified as missing sisters
Police recovered two bodies from the water on 31 January in the search for missing sisters Eliza and Henrietta Huszti.
Police have confirmed two bodies recovered from the River Dee are sisters Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, who went missing last month.
The sisters, who are part of a set of triplets, were last seen on 7 January walking on Victoria Bridge in Aberdeen in the early hours of the morning.
A major search was launched which lasted around three weeks before two bodies were recovered from the water on 31 January.
Police said they are still trying to establish their cause of death and there are no suspicious circumstances.
Superintendent David Howieson said: “The two bodies recovered from the River Dee on Friday, 31 January, 2025 have now been formally identified as Henrietta and Eliza Huszti who were reported missing on Tuesday, 7 January, 2025. Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the exact cause of death however there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.”
Bodies confirmed as missing sisters
Eliza and Henrietta were last seen on CCTV walking along Victoria Bridge at 2.12am on 7 January before heading down a footpath leading towards Aberdeen Boat Club.
A week into the search, detectives revealed the pair were seen on CCTV in the same area the previous day wearing backpacks.
At the time they were last sighted, police said a text was sent from Henrietta's phone to their landlady, notifying them they would not be returning to their flat.
The phone was then disconnected from the network and had not been active since.
It was their landlady who then raised the alarm to police after checking the property the following day.
Detectives also emphasised the difficulty of the search due to tidal conditions in the river.
