Traffic chaos after overnight snow

Aberdeenshire Council are keeping a close eye on the skies, in case they need to send the gritters out again today.

There's a warning over icy roads and pavements

Aberdeenshire Council are defending their gritting of the North East's roads, after chaos for commuters this morning. There were long tailbacks, accidents and vehicles stuck on icy roads after heavy snow and freezing temperature. The Shire Council say they had gritters out yesterday as well as this morning - and they'll be monitoring conditions for the rest of the day.

One of the biggest problem areas this morning was in Aberdeen.

Four buses became stuck on the icy Scotstown Road in Bridge of Don.

The A90 was also closed southbound at Forfar because of an overturned gritting lorry.
