"Tonne of water" safety feature at Aberdeen beach
The RNLI have set up the display
A new water safety feature has been placed at Aberdeen beach to bring home just how dangerous the water can be.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution has challenged people to move a literal tonne of water - with the message "imagine it's pushing back" written on it.
The organisation say it is not a direct response to the deaths of Julie and Lucas Walker, who died back in August after being pulled from the water.
Spokesman Donald Montgomery said: "The idea behind the tonne of water is that people can go to it and basically try and knock it over.
"It's to simulate the force of a wave hitting you in the water, which is the same as a tonne."
