Three local men aged 31, 39 and 45 have been charged in connection with the death of Gary Clampett.

The 39-year-old died following reports of a disturbance in the Fernie Place area of Fraserburgh early on Sunday morning.

Officers along with the Scottish Ambulance Service attended, but he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The men are expected to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Detective Inspector Gary Winter of the Major Investigation Team, who has led the inquiry, said: "I would like to thank the members of the public who have assisted with our investigation so far. I would also like to thank the local community for your continued patience.

"Our enquiries are still ongoing and a strong police presence will remain in the area while these are carried out. I would urge anyone who has information they think could assist to contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous."
