More than a third of North East mental health cases "work related"

It's risen since the start of the North Sea slump

The number of people in the North East suffering from work-related stress has trebled since the start of the North Sea slump.

Mental Health Aberdeen says it's seen a big increase in the number of cases they're treating based on workplace anxiety.

Despite thousands here finding themselves out of work, it's also proving to be tough for people who've still got a job, whether that's because of a pay cut, an increased workload or the fear of redundancy.

The charity says bosses need to be more understanding of staff who are dealing with mental illness.

Chief Executive Astrid Whyte told us about the work they are doing to help people here, which includes going into workplaces and chatting with staff about mental health.
