Thief stole two-figure sum at gunpoint

An Aberdeen corner shop was robbed at gunpoint early Monday morning.

A man wearing a dark hooded waterproof jacket took off with two-figure cash sum and a number of small items from Icon Grocers on George street at 6.10am.

The suspect is described as white, slim build, and in his late teens or early twenties.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Sherlock said: "Fortunately no one was injured in this incident however it would have been extremely frightening for the staff involved.

"We would like to directly appeal to people travelling home using this route to think about if they saw anything on their way in this morning.

"I'm also appealing to any drivers with vehicles fitted with dashboard cameras who were in the area of George Street around the time in question to check any recordings and report anything suspicious

"No one was injured in the incident however it is obviously concerning. Officers will be in the area carrying out enquiries and patrols will be stepped up. If you have information contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
