A thief has stolen money from three purses left unattended at a Remembrance Sunday event.

The money was taken between 2pm and 2.20pm while a ceremony was taking place at the Aberdeen Sea Cadets facility at Pocra Quay.

A low three figure sum of money was taken.

A number of people attended the service as well as cadets and staff.

Inspector Carron McKellar said: "This is a disgraceful incident which has left the victims shocked and upset. We are urgently appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or has any knowledge to contact us on 101.

"It is understood that the suspect entered the building while visitors were in another part of the building and took the money. Nothing else has been taken."
