Hit drama series 'The Crown' will be filming in Macduff next week.

The cast and crew of the Netflix show are expected to be in Aberdeenshire on August 2nd to film for the fifth series.

Residents received a letter last week to tell them filming will take place between 12pm and 6pm on Monday.

"Big boost for Macduff and Banff"

Aberdeenshire Council say it's a "real pleasure" to have The Crown's cast and crew crew in the area.

A spokeswoman said: "Our Film Office works within the Economic Development team to attract inward investment in the region and has been working with The Crown's production team for the last few months.

"We are delighted to have them back filming with us. Increased Film Production helps create opportunities for our local communities as well as the positive impact this has on tourism for the region, and we are committed to maximising production opportunities.

"It's a real pleasure to have The Crown's crew here and big boost for Banff and Macduff in particular."

The fifth series of the controversial series will include Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II and Jonathan Pryce as the Duke of Edinburgh.

Earlier this year, Cillian Murphy and co from the BBC series 'Peaky Blinders' were spotted in Portsoy.

They were filming scenes for the sixth and final series at the village's harbour.
