Four teenage boys have been charged after a disturbance in Oldmeldrum.

Three of them are aged 15 and another is 16.

Police were called to Market Square at around 9:30pm on Tuesday, 30 January following reports of fighting.

The boys will be reported to the Youth Justice Management Unit.

Community Policing Inspector Nick Thom said: "Anti-social behaviour and violence of any type will not be tolerated. A 15 year old male required hospital treatment as a result of this incident and it goes without saying that the incident could have been far more serious without the quick thinking of members of the public and police.

"We are dedicated to working with our partners to put in place measures that prevent violent crime, harm and disorder from happening in the first place.

"The safety and well-being of individuals and communities is paramount and we are grateful for the support we receive from members of the public.

"We continue to urge anyone with concerns to get in touch with us on 101."
