Teenager will face murder trial
A 16 year old boy will be go on trial next week for the murder of Aberdeen schoolboy Bailey Gwynne, after his plea of culpable homicide was rejected by prosecutors
A teenager accused of stabbing to death a pupil at school will go on trial for murder next month in Aberdeen.
16 year old Bailey Gwynne was fatally injured at Cults Academy in Aberdeen on October 28 last year.
At the High Court in Glasgow, prosecutors rejected a lesser plea of culpable homicide entered by lawyers for the 16-year-old accused.
The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will be tried for murder at the High Court in Aberdeen on March 1.
He faces two other charges of carrying knives and knuckledusters on various occasions dating back to August 2013, which he denies.
The trial is expected to last five days, and the court's heard up to sixteen child witnesses could give evidence.
