A teenager has been charged after a collision involving an eight-year-old boy and a moped in Aberdeen.

It happened in Cornhill Terrace at around 4.30pm on Sunday.

The boy was taken to Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital for treatment for facial injuries.

A 19-year-old man is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Inspector Mark Stephen said: "We would like to thank members of the public who have called police with information and the community for patience while inquiries were carried out.''

UPDATE: A second teenager - and 18-year-old-man - has also been charged this morning with road traffic offences.
