A teenager has been arrested over a series of crimes across the North East of Scotland.

It follows an investigation into an alleged break-in at commercial premises in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.

A police car was later damaged in a disturbance while officers investigated an abandoned car in Glenholme Gardens in Dyce, thought to be linked to the incident on Thursday.

A media appeal was then issued to find a badly damaged car allegedly being driven erratically through the city.

Police said that an 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with incidents in the Peterhead, Bridge of Don and Dyce areas on Thursday.

The alleged break-in at Denmore Road in the Murcar Industrial Estate happened between 4.30am and 6.30am on Thursday.

Detective Inspector David Howieson, who has been leading inquiries, said: I would like to thank the numerous members of the public who have been in contact today with potential sightings and information which has been crucial to our investigation.

Our inquiries are continuing and I would urge anyone with information they think could help to contact police - it is not too late to get in touch.
