Second teen charged after Aberdeen shed fires

A second teenage boy has been charged in connection with a number of fires in the Danestone area of Aberdeen.

Emergency services were alerted to a number of sheds on fire between December 29, 2017, and January 3, 2018. During one of the incidents the occupants of a number of nearby homes had to be evacuated as a precaution.

In total six incidents were reported to police at Laurel Avenue, Brander Place, Whitestripes Drive, Whitestripes Path and Fairview Drive.

During extensive enquiries, a 14-year-old was subsequently traced and has been charged in connection. Another 14-year-old boy was charged late last night.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Machray said: "Our investigation is still ongoing in relation to these incidents and we are following other positive lines of enquiry.

"I would like to thank the members of the public who have assisted us so far."
