A 16-year-old boy has been charged in connection with an assault on a 12-year-old at Ellon Academy.

Paramedics treated the younger boy for a head injury at about half past eight this morning, but he didn't need to go to hospital.

The teenager has been reported to the Youth Justice Management Unit.

Sergeant Craig Johnstone said: "This was a contained incident between pupils at the school, which officers quickly attended. A 16 year old boy has been charged and will be reported to the Youth Justice Management Unit."

We're waiting for a statement about the incident from Aberdeenshire Council.
