Organisers of the famous Great North Run are in talks about bringing the event to Aberdeen.

It could be held as early as next summer.

It's hoped the 10K will attract thousands of runners - and tens of thousands of spectators - to the city's streets.

There are Great Runs across the UK now - the once in Glasgow brings in £4.3 million to their economy ever year.

It's hoped it'll be a big boost to Aberdeen's economy.

The proposed route would take in the Harbour, the Esplanade, Pittodrie, Aberdeen University, Marischal College and Union Street.

It's being welcomed by Aberdeen 1,500 metre runner Myles Edwards who thinks it would be a great success.

Hopes are also high of attracting the Great City Games to the Granite City in the future - they've previously been held in Newcastle and Manchester, attracting big names like Usain Bolt.
