Stonehaven police officers have teamed up with a local school's head teacher, in a bid to curb anti-social behaviour in the town.

Louise Moir, from Mackie Academy, joined officers on patrol on Saturday night.

Two young boys were found with cannabis, and a 13-year-old girl was discovered under the influence of alcohol.

Speaking to Northsound, the school's rector talked of the importance of local kids building a strong relationship with police.

Local Sergeant Chris Smith said: “Although Stonehaven has very low levels of anti-social behaviour issues involving young people, we want to ensure this trend continues.”

“Patrols will continue over the summer holidays as part of our longer term strategy aimed at reducing youth disorder, anti-social behaviour, and other acts of criminality and I continue to urge residents to report issues to the police."
