Still questions to answer on levels system according to North East MSP
Liam Kerr wants the regions' leading stats on Covid cases to be reflected when we return to a tiered system of regulations.
There's still questions to be answered on coming out of lockdown according to North East MSP Liam Kerr.
The Tory MSP says he believes people in the North East of Scotland will want assurances that when we return to a levels system, the covid stats in the region will be reflected in the level of restrictions.
Mr Kerr said: “North-east residents have at last been given hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel by the success of the UK’s vaccination programme.
“But their hopes of getting full clarification on a route out of lockdown simply haven’t been met by this holding statement from the SNP Government.
“Several questions still remain unanswered on the restart of life events such as weddings or when social distancing will actually end for example.
“The use of a tiered system will still feel like lockdown to residents across the north-east.
“Over the last seven days, Aberdeen has had the lowest number of cases per 100,000 population in mainland Scotland.
“It’s absolutely essential that the tiered system actually reflects this for the city’s level if these figures continue.”
