Six males, with two as young as 15, have been charged and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in relation to seven break-ins in Aberdeen and Kingswells.

The other men are aged 17, 20, 25 and 27.

The alleged thefts took place between July and October and property worth more than £9000 was stolen.

Around £6000 worth of that stolen property has since been recovered.

Detective Inspector Stuart McAdam said: "Operation Magpie has been launched to tackle acquisitive crime in the North East which includes thefts and housebreakings.

"These types of crimes, even in cases where nothing has been taken, are particularly harrowing for victims and we are committed to carrying out retrospective enquiries to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

"I continue to urge householders to lock their doors and windows and for residents to report anything suspicious or unusual that they see in their neighbourhood to us."
