Winter has officially descended on Aberdeen and the shire!

Yesterday saw a blanket of snow fall over the area, with Braemar being the worst affected - with six inches of snow.

Traffic was also brought to a halt on the A90, by a jacknifed lorry at Brechin.

The snow gates have been closed between Cock Bridge and Tomintoul, and on the A93 between Braemar and Glenshee.

The weather has eased, but there's been freezing conditions overnight which has led to black ice on may routes this morning - Police say the A98 up to Banff is looking especially treacherous.

As for tonight, the temperature is set to plummet to -5C, but the wintery conditions won't last long, as later on in the week it will rise to 12C.
