Six men aged between 20 and 26 have been charged in relation to alleged street trading offences in the Midstocket and Ferryhill on Saturday afternoon (5th August, 2017).

The men were charged in relation to peddling goods without valid certification and reported to the Procurator Fiscal following enquiries carried out by police after officers received concern reports from members of the public.

Community Policing Team Sergeant Jon Spence said: "I would like to thank the members of the public who got in touch and assisted us with enquiries.

"I would like to remind residents to remain vigilant to cold callers and if you have any concerns report these to police on 101. Ask to see the identification of someone calling at your home and don't let them in if you feel uncomfortable. If they are selling goods you can ask to see their licence. You don't have to answer the door and if you have any concerns at all contact police. Where possible provide us with some descriptive detail such as the appearance of the people involved and the clothing they are wearing as well as descriptions of the vehicles they may be using including registration mark, colour, type and any particular markings or signs.
