Serious sexual assault in Union Terrace Gardens
Police confirm the attack on a woman in Aberdeen city centre was sexual in nature
A woman has suffered a serious sex attack in Aberdeen city centre.
The assault happened between 3am and 3.30am on Thursday in Union Terrace Gardens.
Police investigating the attack have cordoned off the area and will resume their work at the scene in daylight on Friday morning.
Police Scotland said two men were seen in the area around the time of the incident and officers are appealing for them to come forward with any information they may have.
Chief Inspector Graham Mackie said This was a serious assault on a woman in the city centre and we would urge anyone who may have been in the Union Terrace Gardens area at that time and who saw or heard anything untoward to come forward with any information they may have.
I'd like to reassure the public that these types of incidents are unusual, however, we would encourage people to be vigilant.''
