Scotland's Brexit minister to be questioned by MPs
Mike Russell is holding talks in London
Holyrood's Brexit Minister has vowed Scotland will "never, ever turn our back on Europe''.
Mike Russell made the claim as he prepared for the latest round of talks with the UK Government over how the vote for Brexit should be implemented.
The talks in London come less than 24 hours after MSPs rejected the triggering of Article 50 in a symbolic vote in the Scottish Parliament.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and others have warned time is running out for Westminster and Holyrood to reach an agreement which could prevent a second independence referendum.
The Scottish Government has put forward "compromise proposals'' aimed at keeping the country in the single market when the UK leaves the European Union.
While Mr Russell insisted the UK Government had offered "not a single compromise in return, or even a view on our proposals'', he insisted Scottish Government representatives would go to the Joint Ministerial Committee (JMC) meeting with a "positive view and willingness to talk''.
Speaking in Holyrood on Tuesday, Mr Russell said: "We're going to keep talking and make sure that we go on talking so that the Article 50 letter can still be influenced by the reasonable demands of Scotland.
"But what we are also going to do is this - never allow Scotland to be humiliated and its democratic choice rejected, and we will never, ever turn our back on Europe and the world.''
