School Bus driver dead after crash with lorry and car

13 kids were on board - they've walked away with cuts and bruises

A man's died after the school bus he was driving crashed with a lorry and a car outside Aberdeen.

It happened just before eight o'clock this morning - the road's closed between Leggart Terrace and Netherley Road.

Some of the children on the bus have minor injuries.

A police spokeswoman said:

“Thirteen pupils from Lathallan School in Johnshaven were on the bus at the time of the incident, but none have sustained any serious injuries.

"The male drivers of the red Audi A4 and white DAF lorry have been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with non- life threatening injuries.

"The South Deeside road will remain closed for the time being between Leggart Terrace and Netherley Road (B979) plus Milltimber Brae.

"If anyone witnessed the collision or either of the vehicles prior to the incident and has not yet spoken to officers please call Police Scotland quoting reference inc 633 of 15 December."

Richard Toley, headmaster at Lathallan School, said all the pupils had been accounted for.

He said: "We have been informed of an incident on the South Deeside Road in Aberdeen this morning. It involves a coach used to transport pupils to our school. There were 13 pupils on the bus.

"These pupils are safe and accounted for. No pupils have been seriously injured and pupils are either with parents or members of staff now. "

The South Deeside road will remain closed for the time being between Leggart Terrace and Netherley Road (B979) plus Milltimber Brae.
