Engineers are checking dozens of North Sea helicopters which have been grounded after last week's crash off Norway.

Thirteen people died, including Iain Stuart from Laurencekirk.

It appears the rotor detatched from the aircraft.

The European Aviation Safety Authority has ordered the rotor drives on all Super Puma 225s to be examined.

That includes making sure the suspension bars are correctly installed and checking there are no metallic particles in the oil filters.

An online petition to remove the aircraft from service completely has now gathered more than 25,000 signatures.

Relatives of those killed in what seems to have been a similar crash in the North Sea in 2009, and survivors of other helicopter accidents are among those backing the petition.
