Russell Anderson says being able to run a free-to-attend camp during his foundation's 10th anniversary celebration brings him "an awful lot of satisfaction".

It's the first time that they've been able to make the camps free, with Anderson saying it's "important" that children can access a variety of sports.

"It's brought an awful lot of satisfaction.

"It's humbling, to be honest, looking at the turnout we've had this week and just generally throughout the year when we're working with the kids, it's been a huge journey so far"

The camp is in its second week of running at Aberdeen Sports Village (ASV).

The foundation has been supported by various local sports clubs, allowing children opportunities to try their hand at more than just football.

"Naturally we've had football but we've also had rugby, (thanks to) Aberdeenshire rugby and the Scottish Rugby Union, Tennis Scotland, the Kings Links have donated resources and time for the children to experience a whole range of different sports.

"The feedback's been really good, the kids have loved it.

Anderson added that, despite being in the midst of 10th anniversary celebrations, it was always to plan to run a free camp this year.

"It's just coincidence that we're having this summer camp with the 10 year anniversary, but it's just another string to the bow that we've added in the time that we've been working with the schools.

"We felt it was important to try and put something on like this in the summer holidays, free of charge to the kids, especially at the moment when all you hear is about the rising cost of living and how expensive things are.
