Roads closed after man climbs statue

Police have charged a 34 year old man with breach of the peace, after responding to reports of a man scaling the statue of Edward VII on Union Street.

Police have charged a 34 year old man with breach of the peace, after responding to reports of a man scaling the statue of Edward VII on Union Street.

Surrounding roads were closed for several hours while the police made sure he was safe.

A 34 year old man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for assessment - he was not injured.

The police are thanking the public for being patient while the incident was resolved.
