Some of Aberdeen's busiest roads were at a standstill at rush hour this morning because of heavy snow.

That includes the AWPR northbound between Craibstone and Goval, and the A96 both ways between the Haudagain and Bucksburn roundabouts.

The Lang Stracht was also blocked both ways at Dobbies Garden Centre because of a jacknifed lorry.

Many more routes in and around the Granite City were also blocked because of cars stuck in the snow or broken down vehicles.

And a number of schools opened later than usual to allow staff and pupils to get in safely.

And the yellow weather warning for snow and ice in the North East has been extended into Friday.
