Aberdeen welcomes its first cat café today.

'Cat In The Window Cafe' is situated at 14 Netherkirkgate, and allows guests to enjoy a beverage and cake while the cats play around them.

The stars of the show are eight cats: Napoleon – a Chinchilla Persian, Mickey – a lilac and white Scottish Fold, Theodore – a cream tabby Scottish Fold, Belle – a tabby Moggy, Romeo – a Ticked Warm Asian, Boo – a black Moggy, Pancake – a silver tabby Exotic Shorthair, and Zeus – a bicolour Ragdoll.

Café owner Heather went through a strict picking process when choosing her cats, saying that they all had to be selected for their lovable temperament and human affection levels.

They were all brought together from a young age in order to make sure they got along as if they were from the same litter and to get them fully comfortable in their setting.

To avoid stressing the adorable kittens, the customer capacity is limited to 20 people max during each session. The one hour time slots can be booked on their website.

After leaving the oil and gas industry at the beginning of the downturn – Heather decided to make her dream of a cat cafe come true.

Heather received help from the Princes Trust and set up a crowdfunding campaign to allow fellow cat lovers help fund her idea.

Northsound News got a speak peak at the Cafe this week, before it opened to the public.
