It took place at Tarland Golf Club at around 9am last Friday.
Officers are keen to speak to a man who is described as being around 60-years-old and was wearing a long grey duffle coat, dark trousers and a jumper.
Sergeant Gordon Forsyth, of the Marr Community Policing Team, said: "This is thankfully an isolated incident and is extremely rare for the local community. Officers are conducting extensive enquiries and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area or has any information to come forward."
