Drugs with a street value of £40,000 have been found in the city-centre of Aberdeen.

The seizure was made on Guild Street yesterday morning (Tuesday November 7, 2017) where Cannabis was seized.

A 26-year-old man from Liverpool has beencharged in connection with the recovery.

He is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today.

Detective Sergeant Bruce Buntain said: "This latest action under Operation Aspen - North East Division's ongoing initiative to tackle the sale and supply of illegal substances - has intercepted a significant amount of drugs which would have been bound for our communities.

"Proactive action like this is ongoing on a daily basis to ensure the North East remains a safe place to live.

"I urge the public to help us continue to do this by letting us know if you have concerns about drug misuse so we can target our resources to the right places and at the right times."
