Published 17th Aug 2015

Police Scotland are asking for help to trace vandals who destroyed a vintage train in Aberdeenshire.

The attack took place at the Deeside Railway Storage Yard, in Crathes, at around 10pm last Monday (Auguast 10).

Windows were broken in one of the passenger carriages as well as windows in a small locomotive and a utilities vehicle.

The damage caused is estimated to be around £10,000.

Sgt Julie Stephen said: "It is a week since this mindless act of vandalism happened and we would like to re-appeal to the public to assist with our enquiries to identify those responsible.

"This type of offence is extremely rare in Deeside and it is important that we work with the community to prevent any such incidences from happening again."
