Police Scotland are investigating after Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos was allegedly racially abused on social media following Sunday's Old Firm game.

The video was originally posted on Snapchat and has now been circulated on Twitter.

The Colombian forward scored the equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Celtic.

Players and staff from both Old Firm clubs stood in solidarity against racism before the game at the weekend after Glen Kamara was allegedly racially abused by Slavia Prague midfielder Ondrej Kudela on Thursday night.

Police Scotland said on Monday morning: "An investigation is under way after we received a number of complaints regarding an offensive social media post and enquiries are ongoing."

Rangers captain James Tavernier revealed on Sunday that every black player at the club has been racially abused this season.

He told Sky Sports: “We took a knee to send out a message but we believe that message isn’t strong enough.

“What we did was stand up to send out a bigger message that we need action on these things that are occurring regularly now.

“We wanted to send out a strong message and it was an easy decision.

“You saw the situation on Thursday and that is going to get taken care of.

“But I feel confident saying that all our black players have received racial abuse this season.

“That’s from social media platforms and this is a key message to them.

“Action has to be taken - enough is enough. It’s happening all around the game.

“People sit behind keyboards, computers or phones racially abusing players.

“We have just had enough of it.”
