Polling staff in the capital raised concerns about possible impersonation in two constituencies; Edinburgh South and Edinburgh South West.

That's when someone turns up to vote and finds their vote has already been cast.

The fraudulent ballots were discovered at Gorgie Parish Church and the Edinburgh South Neighbourhood Office.

A City of Edinburgh Council spokeswoman confirmed concerns raised by polling staff had been reported to the police.

She said: Polling staff raised concerns over two possible cases of voter personation. This was immediately reported to Police Scotland who are now investigating.''
