Pensioner charged over alleged hit-and-run

A pensioner has been charged after a three-year-old girl was hit by a car on a pedestrian crossing in Aberdeen.

It happened on the city-bound carriageway of Auchmill Road in Bucksburn at around 12.30pm on Monday.

The toddler was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment to minor injuries.

A 70-year-old man from Aberdeen has been charged in connection with the incident.

He is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court next month.

The incident happened near Chalmers Bakery and police are asking drivers with dash-cam footage to contact them.

Road Policing Sergeant Steve Manson said: We are still appealing for anyone with dash-cam footage from around the time in question to please get in touch by calling police on 101 quoting incident no 1418 of 23/10.'
