Parents are welcoming the first Scottish babies of 2024
New parents across the country are bringing in the New Year in a magical way
The first Scottish baby in 2024 was born just two minutes after the Hogmanay bells.
Henry George Buchanan was born at an NHS Fife hospital at 12.02am, to his delighted parents, Jamie and Andrew.
Meanwhile, two other babies were born at 12.06am, but 150miles apart, with Kirsty Crowe giving birth to son Lewis at the Princess Royal Maternity Hospital in Glasgow, as Bonnie-May Presslie was born to parents Chelsea and Nathan at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital.
Bonnie-May's sisters Skye, nine, and Amelia-Lilly, six, are said to be looking forward to meeting the new arrival, who was joined by another new born at Aberdeen hospital, Karson, who was born at 4.18am to Wishe Holmes and her partner Ewan Stevenson, both 19.
Just a few hours before, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow welcomed Chidubem Adriel Elechi, who arrived to parents Grace and Chibueze at 1.31am.
Edinburgh’s first New Year baby was born at the Royal Infirmary’s Simpson Centre for Reproductive Health at 4.32am, with Kayleigh and Craig Young welcoming their 8lb 14oz son, Forest.
Mr Young said: "It is a lovely start to the new year, and we are both delighted.
"Kayleigh is obviously a bit tired, but she and Forest are doing really well.
“We like being outdoors and we wanted to give Forest a name that meant something to us."
