Over 1,000 youngsters ‘Sign for the Dons’
New AberDNA Junior project proves popular with fans under 12
Last week plans were unveiled to make every child under 12 in the North East and beyond an official member of Aberdeen FC for free.
This pioneering membership programme has captured the imaginations of youngsters locally, nationally and internationally with over 1,000 Dons fans now ‘signing’ for the Club.
AberDNA Junior is part of a drive to nurture future generations of fans and is at the heart of the Club’s wider fan engagement strategy as we embark on a journey to become a successful and sustainable Club.
Inspired by the initial reaction of your supporters to this ambitious initiative, AFC Commercial Director, Rob Wicks said: “We have been hugely encouraged by the positive response amongst our supporters to this exciting new membership.
“As a Club we are actively trying to do all we can to win back a lost generation of supporters, engage better with fans and restore a sense of pride and passion in our Club.
“We want to demonstrate Pittodrie is the place to be by offering a better matchday experience, particularly for our younger fans, so it is incredibly promising to see so many taking advantage of our free membership and we look forward to welcoming them to the Club.”
To help build a pathway to adult membership, AFC is also introducing another category to its AberDNA membership. AberDNA ‘Youth’ will be for fans aged between 12 and 21 and will offer a membership card, priority points, season ticket discount for all areas of the stadium including Red Shed, and additional benefits including a discount in the Club Shop.
All U12 members will be able to access two free match tickets during the 20/21 season whilst also benefiting from exclusive events and opportunities to enter prize draws.
Current Under 12 AberDNA members can still renew their paid membership with the club in order to benefit from additional incentives such as the opportunity to become a mascot or a flag bearer at a home match and receive a 50% discount on their season ticket.
