One taken to hospital after fire at Aberdeen restaurant
Six fire crews arrived at the Union Street restaurant to find it "well alight".
One person has been taken to hospital following a fire at Aberdeen's Vovem restaurant.
Police, ambulance and fire crews rushed to the scene on Union Street at around 11.55am.
Six fire crews and other specialist resources arrived at the popular steak restaurant to find it "well alight".
Scottish Ambulance Services dispatched a special operations team and one patient was transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Their condition is unknown.
People are being asked to avoid the area with closures currently in place on Union Street, Summer Street, Union Wynd and Little Chapel Street.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call today from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to attend an incident on Union Street in Aberdeen. We have dispatched our special operations team (SORT) to the scene. We transported one patient to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 11.46am on Thursday, September 26 to reports of a commercial building fire in Union Street, Aberdeen.
“Operations Control immediately mobilised six appliances and other specialist resources to the scene where firefighters found Vovem Restaurant to be well alight.
“Three appliances remain on the scene at this time as crews work to make the area safe.”
