Vandals who ripped two small trees out of the ground in an Aberdeen park have been offered an olive branch.

The Bay Leaf trees were planted in Skene Street around 3 months ago in an effort to add some colour to the area.

The City Centre Community Council says they would rather educate those responsible rather than punish them.

Chairman Dustin MacDonald said: "I would invite those people who are maybe inclined to do damage or try and destroy the work that's been done to get involved and see how much work it takes to do these things.

"It'll maybe help persuade them that it is better to be involved in doing rather than destroying."

So far, the group haven't reported the damage to the police.
