Oil services firm Hunting to cut quarter of Aberdeen workforce
Oil services firm Hunting say they are to cut a quarter of their Aberdeen workforce.
Oil services firm Hunting say they are to cut a quarter of their Aberdeen workforce.
That means around 75 positions are to go, from their total workforce of 307.
It comes after the company made around 60 job cuts last year.
The firm are blaming it on the current oil crisis.
Hunting’s managing director Bruce Ferguson said: "We forecast that the market will not improve in the short to medium term, so we need to make further efficiency improvements along with more cost savings in order to continue to make our Aberdeen business sustainable for the longer term."
He added: "We have held back from further headcount reductions but, unfortunately, the further drop in the oil price has now made this unavoidable. We must look to resize our business to the new market conditions and, as a result, to get our costs down to a level that we can sustain. "
