Police confirm identity of man missing from oil rig since Sunday, 22 January

The search was called off after just 12 hours

Police Scotland have confirmed that enquiries are continuing after a man went missing on an oil rig on Sunday, 22 January.

They also revealed that he is Jason Thomson, 50, from Wales.

A search operation was launched at around 7PM on the 22nd of January for Thomson, however it was called off just 12 hours later.

Officers from the North East Division have since been able to board the rig on Sunday, 29 January.

They are liaising with partner agencies including the Health and Safety Executive, and the rig operator, to gather any information that may assist them in establishing the circumstances leading up to Jason being reported missing.
