The youngest sister of I’m a Celebrity star Iain Lee has hit out at social media users for criticising her brother, amid concerns about his mental health.

Frances Rougvie is defending the 42 year old comedian and broadcaster, who is currently in the Australian jungle.

Mr Lee, has attracted criticism from some for wearing his heart on his sleeve, and struggling in Bushtucker trials.

24 year-old Frances, who works in an Aberdeen bar, posted that some comments about her brother have been “over the line” and all she wants is for mental health to be discussed openly.

She said:

"Irrespective of whether he is my relative, or not, some of the comments made about his mental health have been pretty over the line. Nobody knows the battles anybody faces, and being cruel about anyone, mental health issue or not, is not a way to live.

"In the difficult world we live in, we should all be supporting each other and working hard to spread love. That said, there have been many people that have commented upon the positive reaction Iain has had since going into the jungle. Bringing a dialogue about mental health into the public eye cannot possibly be a bad thing. So many of us have our demons. Battling them in the public eye is admirable.

"Nobody knows Iain’s backstory, nor does anybody need to. All we should do is focus on being kind - and keep discussing mental health openly."
