North East Police officer denies driving under the influence of drugs - causing accident
George Shearer is accused of leaving one man badly hurt and a police dog dead after the incident on the A90 near Auchiries, Aberdeen.
Former Policeman George Shearer,49, will stand trial over the incident in February of 2017.
Prosecutors have accused Shearer of having taken "tablets" that he'd seized from a suspect on the day of an accident.
It's alleged that a Mr Gordon Morrison was injured after Shearer's Police fan veered onto the wrong side of the road - colliding with Morrison's vehicle.
This smash also resulted in the death of a police dog that Morrison had in the van.
A separate charge alleges Shearer did “neglect or violate his duties” as a police constable.
It is claimed he did “stop and search” a man in Aberdeen on February 28 and found on him a number of tablets.
These were said to be the drugs zoplicone and xanax.
Shearer remains on bail and a trial date has been fixed for June in Aberdeen.
