North East farmer dies in accident
The former president of the Turriff Show has been killed in an accident at his farm.
A well-known farmer has died in an accident at his farm.
It's understood Bruce Ferguson fell into a grain storage tank at Ardmiddle Mains near Turriff, Aberdeenshire, on Saturday afternoon.
The 61-year-old had been president of the Turriff Show, a yearly two-day event promoting agriculture and the food industry in the north-east of Scotland.
Mr Ferguson escorted the Queen at the show last summer as she attended the 150th anniversary event to present awards.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: Along with other emergency services we attended at Ardmiddle Mains, Turriff, at 4.15pm on Saturday following the sudden death of a 61-year-old man.
There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and as with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.''
