Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils have launched an anonymous survey, with the local authorities looking for views from those impacted by domestic abuse.

They want to improve and enhance their services on offer, and want lived experience to inform that decision making.

Councillor Anne Stirling told us that the pandemic means the demand for these services have surged, and changes to the way they are offered have become crucial.

She said:

"It's important to the Councils and our partners that we listen to the lived experience of those who have experienced domestic abuse.

"We have seen an increase in the numbers of people who have experienced domestic abuse over the past few years, and it is probably due to Lockdown that certainly the increase over the past year has been seen.

"In Aberdeenshire over the past year we have had over 100 people approach the Council for homelessness assistance due to domestic abuse."
